"I Have This Little Sister..."

Just wanted to post about this adorable series of books called Charlie and Lola. Written and illustrated by Lauren Child, these books are charming stories of the everyday life and imaginary adventures of a British brother and sister, as told from the point of view of older brother, Charlie.

Each book begins, "I have this little sister, Lola. She is small and very funny."
The girls LOVE these books and, every time we go to the library, they INSIST on checking out a new Charlie and Lola book! Of course, it probably doesn't hurt that Mom and Dad add to the fun by reading the books aloud in a British accent. (You have to!...the qwerky expressions and uniquely-British phrasings "absolutely, completely" demand it!)

Ashley loves these books so much that she has memorized the first line and can recite it on cue with a knowing little giggle. I think it's safe to say that, right now, Charlie and Lola books are "absolutely, completely her favorite and her best"!

Summer Fun in a Box!

I wasn't positive about the wisdom of this purchase when I made it...but now that we have used it ONCE, I can unequivocally say that it is hands-down the BEST purchase I have made for summer! This combo slide/bounce house is going to bring hours and hours of fun to our front yard! :-)

We are happy to report that this colorful contraption inflates in about 2 minutes (well...except for the bumpers along the landing of the slide, which have to be blown up manually!) and it can be used wet OR dry!

So far, Ashley definitely seems to prefer it dry...

But Elizabeth had just as much fun with the water on as she did with the water off!
Maybe when it gets hot enough, Ashley will share in her sentiments! But at least she enjoyed splashing in the puddles. Either way, I can tell it's going to get a LOT of use this summer!

Preschool Playdate

No special post today...just a snapshot of a moment in time.

After preschool today, Elizabeth and Ashley were excited to go to Chick-Fil-A with their little buddies, Elias and Gregory. Their baby sister, Arabella, came along too...but she was sitting in her carrier while these pics were taken.

Elias and Elizabeth are in the same preschool class, and Gregory and Ashley are classmates in MOPS. Clearly, they get along well! ;-)

And Mommy & Daddy are thrilled about that because we happen to think their parents are pretty swell too! :-)
